A letter to the rejoiced positivity.

What I cannot sometimes handle on Instagram is the all-over positivity. Someone’s doing Yoga regularly, someone is on a vacation and someone has completed the goal of reading 100 books this year.

What I do wonder sometimes is what if Instagram was a place to share vulnerabilities. Would people give a damn. Would 4.5 billion people still use it? Would it help us all be more understanding towards each other and our own self perhaps? Or would it flat straight demoralize us all?

I do know handles that are just pouring information or highlighting human imperfections. But this is about the majority, or posts coming in front of me or I looked at them and now it comes in front of me? Ummm…

Nevertheless!

Dear citizen of Instagram spare me!

Spare me your doodled cute quotes. Spare me all the glamour, the monday motivation, the cool reels, all the copy writing where complex emotions need to be expressed in 4 words, all the filters that make it better instantly but then makes me question deeply.

I’m tired of going online on an anxious day and seeing “Be Kind To Yourself”. Okay, but how?

One day I even questioned is happiness is my default mode of operation or is in fact awareness? Is opposite of happiness wrong?

P.S. It’s pretty ironic that I am in a field where I learn all about the social handles, their perks, their trends. But the awareness of it has made me little more realistic and cautious. Not wanting to end this positively, because the truth is I still struggle most of the times.
